Robert D. Coli, M.D. is a physician and healthcare entrepreneur. In 1967, he established Gastrointestinal Associates, a private internal medicine and gastroenterology practice in Warwick, Rhode Island. A decade later, Dr. Coli recruited and organized 25 physician partners in planning, financing, and building a 40,000 sq. ft medical building. He also was instrumental in organizing Rhode Island physicians to finance and incorporate Ocean State Physicians Health Plan, the nations first statewide Independent Practice Association (IPA) with revenues reaching $83 million. In 1989, Ocean State Physicians Health Plan ranked second on the annual INC Magazine list of fastest-growing companies.
For his expertise in his field of medicine, DR. Coli has been awarded three AMA Physician Recognition Awards. He also has been honored by the American Board of Internal Medicine Certification in both internal medicine and gastroenterology.
In addition, Dr. Coli is the founder and CEO of Diagnostic Information System(SM) Company, which is commercializing its patented Diagnostic Information System(SM). This specialized system applies a semantic application standard for diagnostic test results reporting, which provides for the viewing and sharing of cumulative test results information across multiple, non-integrated databases.
Dr. Coli is a graduate of Tufts University and received his Doctor of Medicine from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He performed his Internal Medicine Residency and his Gastroenterology Fellowship at Rhode Island Hospital.
